Aston Martin V12 Vantage S (2015) Cost at $187,820

It seems as if by exotic-car statutes, carbon fiber and crazy colors must come out at least once in a model’s lifetime. Aston Martin, apparently still giddy from the fluorescent green and blue vapors emanating from the 2013 Vanquish, has finally applied this rule to the eight-year-old Vantage. At $187,820, the 2015 V12 Vantage S arrives early next year as the fastest Aston on sale.

The V12 Vantage S is $56,470 more expensive than the 2013 Porsche 911 GT3, a car that Aston Martin considers to be the V12 Vantage S's closest competitor. The 911 GT3 starts at $131,350, including a $950 destination charge. There is no base 2015 Vantage.

However, the bumblebee-spec model you see here with the black roof, black-painted trunk panel, carbon fiber grille, and black 10-spoke rims will cost considerably more (Aston Martin hasn’t released option pricing). Traditional Savile Row types may avert their eyes to a Vantage in such optional colors—as they likely did upon seeing the Jaguar XKR-S GT in March and the 2011 Bentley Continental Supersports ISR Edition—but we could deal with it. If you’d like to pretend you’re driving one of Aston’s Vantage GT3 race cars—or want to try to scare a driver in a 911 GT3 RS 4.0—order one painted like this.

Aston Martin is calling the V12 Vantage S its "fastest accelerating production car to date — with the exception of the limited edition and sold-out One-77 hypercar." The V12 Vantage S sprints from zero to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, according to the automaker.

It is equipped with the new 565-horsepower AM28 6.0-liter V12 engine. It has a top speed of 205 mph.

The car features three-stage adaptive damping, along with normal, sport and track modes. The sport mode is controlled with a button on the center console that changes throttle response, gearshift speed and timing and exhaust note.

"It's a car for those customers who want superior sporting performance in a 'gentleman's suit,'" said Dr. Ulrich Bez, Aston Martin CEO in a statement.

Aston Martin owners are typically 45-year-old men who typically own five or six other cars, according to Aston Martin demographics.
